Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan on Sunday warned the Rupali Bank management over the expulsion of the bank’s collective bargaining agent leaders who manhandled officials of the bank.
Shahjahan went to the Rupali Bank headquarters at Motijheel in the capital and held a meeting with the sacked CBA leaders.
Rupali Bank authorities in July sacked three of its CBA leaders for assaulting general manager and deputy and assistant general managers of the bank’s local office on December 5, 2016.
CBA president Mustak Ahmed, general secretary Md Kabil Hossain Kazi and Md Arman Mollah were removed from service, according to an official order.
Earlier on July 11, 2017, the Rupali Bank authorities asked the three CBA leaders to explain why they would not be sacked but their replies found dissatisfactory to the bank.
The minister called upon the bank management to reconcile with the sacked CBA leaders.
Citing the latest incidence of chief justice SK Sinha’s leave and subsequent departure from the country, Shahjahan warned the Rupali Bank management that ‘many things could be exposed if searched in the roots’.
Shahjahan met no official of the bank while the managing director of the bank, Ataur Rahman Prodhan, was not present in the bank during the minister’s visit.
The sacked CBA president Mustak told reporters that the minister came to the bank as Shahjahan was their leader. ‘The minister asked the bank management for a respectable solution to the problem it created with us,’ he said.
